Johann Christian Kittel (1732 – 1809) was one of the last students of Johann Sebastian Bach. Though his work is noticeably influenced by the galant style, his forms are mainly based on examples by Bach. This piece is based on an old Christmas hymn. After an introduction the melody is presented.
