Johann Balthasar Kehl, Sei Lob und Ehr dem höchsten Gut
Yesterday I realized I still have to finish my series of choral preludes by Johann Balthasar Kehl. Only a few pieces left to go, and then it’s time to round them all up in a new edition.
The prelude on “Sei Lob und Ehr, dem höchsten Gut” is ont of the few pieces where Kehl prescribes the use of the pedals. However, the pedals don’t have an independent part. They facilitate playing the piece and are not meant as seperate voice. So I just use a coupler to the manual the left hand is playing and no pedal stops.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Van Dam organ (1832) in Tholen by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.

I am not certain about this, but I think that HEILAND should have a capital H . I am referring to NUN KOMM DER HEIDEN HEILAND.
I think that the title means NOW COME THE SAVIOUR —HEILAND — OF THE HEATHEN –DER HEIDEN.. i. e. Heiden is a noun and requires a capital. in German.
I repeat, I am not certain about this.
I mention this now because you are about to put all your KEHL items into a book.
Of course, the same point applies to settings by other composers.
It seems you are right. I read the ‘heiden’ as an adjective’ but it turns out to be a noun. That’s going to take some work to correct, there are already 16 scores on my site with pieces based on this chorale. Thanks for the feed-back and I hope you’ll enjoy the Kehl edition.
