Johann Christian Kittel (1732 – 1809) was one of the last students of Johann Sebastian Bach. Though his work is noticeably influenced by the galant style, his forms are mainly based on examples by Bach.
This piece is based on an old Christmas hymn. After an introduction the melody is presented in the right hand, alternating with short free sections.
Transcribed from a manuscript (Mus.1-U-514) owned by the Staat- und Universiätsbibliothek Dresden.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Van Dam organ (1832) in Tholen by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
