Dietrich Buxtehude, Komm heiliger Geist, Herre Gott, BuxWV 200
The chorale prelude Komm heiliger Geist, Herre Gott BuxWV 200 was transcribed from manuscript Mus.ms. 22541 III, owned by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. It is the more intimate of the two preludes from Buxtehude on this chorale. I made two versions. In one the left hand is notated with the alto-clef. In the other the left hand is notated using the ‘modern’ treble and bass key.
The recording was done with the sampleset, made by Organ Art Media, of the Arp Schnitger organ in Steinkirchen. In line with the more intimate character, the solo is played on the Principale 8′ of the Hauptwerk alone, accompanied with the Gedackt 8’and Rohrflöte 4′ of the Brustwerk; the Brustwerk doors were closed for this recording.
