Dietrich Buxtehude, Von Gott will ich nicht lassen (BuxWV 221)
Buxtehude’s second prelude to “Von Gott will ich nicht lassen”, BuxWV 220, is very unlike its twin prelude, BuxWV 220. Where that one is Buxtehude’s familiar monodic style, BuxWV 221 is full of grandeur, and elements of the style fantastico. The chorale melody sounds, embellished in the upper voice, as well as in the pedal part. The pedal part makes several dramatic entrancss and the writing for the hands is in parts very much like Buxtehude’s praeludia. An envigorating piece.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
