Ernst Friedrich Wolf, Mir nach spricht Christus
Ernst Friedrich Wolf (? – 1772) was a composer and organist who studied under Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel. No birthdate is known, at least I could not find one. Ernst Friedrich Wolf was the older brother of Ernst Wilhelm Wolf (1734 – 1972) so Ernst Friedrich was born sometime before 1734. The other thing that is known about him is that he became organist in Kahla an der Saale around 1760. He seems to have been the more talented composer of the two brothers, but Ernst Wilhelm became more famous, and of Ernst Friedrich hardly any music survives.
The trio on “Mir nach spricht Christus” can be found in the “The Wöchentliche Nachrichten und Anmerkungen die Musik betreffend”, edited by Johann Adam Hiller.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Holzey organ of St. Peter and Paul in Weissenau by Prospectum.
