Georg Andreas Sorge (?), Kyrie, Gott Vater in Ewigkeit (Emans 127)
Reinmar Emans made a list (around 1997) of chorale preludes that could possibly have been written by Johann Sebastian Bach. The list contains 198 items. Since 1997 some of the works on the list have been positively attributed to other composers, some are supposed to have been written by other composers, and some are still a possible candidate for Bach’s authorship. That’s why some works by a variety of composers suddenly have an Emans-number. This chorale prelude to “Kyrie, Gott Vater in Ewigkeit” is one of them: Emans 127. It appears in manuscript Mus ms 30376, on the same page as a work by Sorge. The page following it contains a work by Sorge as well. Emans 127 is therefore believed to be composed by Sorge as well, though it is far from certain.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Van Dam organ (1832) in Tholen by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
