Georg Friedrich Kauffmann, Herzliebster Jesu, was hast du verbrochen?
Kauffmann’s prelude on “Herzliebster Jesu was hast du verbrochen” is short but ingeniously constructed. It starts as a fugue on the first phrase of the choral melody. The third entry is in the soprano, that continues with the choral melody, while the bass enter with the fourth statement of the fugue theme. Alto, tenor and bass continue the fugue, while the soprano voice continues the full choral melody.
Kauffmann again prescribes the use of a 16’stop. I could not play it convincingly that way, so I resorted to Octaaf 8’and 4′.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
