Georg Friedrich Kauffmann, O Gott, du frommer Gott
In the original publication Kauffmann’s prelude to “O Gott, du frommer Gott” is notated on three staves. The choral melody is notated on the upper staves, and the other two voices on the other two staves. This could indicate the lower voice is to be played with the pedals. However, this part doesn’t seem to be meant to be played with the feet. Or perhaps it is, but then it is the most difficult pedal part Kauffmann ever wrote. I choose to play the chorale melody with the feet, and layed out the score accordingly. If anyone want a score with the layout as in the original publication, just contact me.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk. For the choral melody I use the Zink 2′; finally a chance to use it seriously…
