Georg Philipp Telemann, Herzlich tut mich verlangen, TWV 31:21
This chorale prelude was transcribed from manuscript Mus. ms. 22541 III owned by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. A somewhat unusual prelude on this famous melody. Telemann is not afraid to use harsh dissonants (e flat against e). Even though they appear only in passing on unaccented parts of the bar, it’s quite uncommon for his time. The melody is played on the pedals, with just the Trompet 8′. The countermelodies are played on the Brustwerk with Gedacht 8′ and Rohrflöt 4′.
The recording was done with the sampleset, made by Organ Art Media, of the Arp Schnitger organ in Steinkirchen.
