Gottfried August Homilius, Wer nur den lieben Gott läßt walten (HoWV VIII.3)
By now it is three months ago I broke my left arm. It is more or less healed, though still very painful and very stiff. I started again playing the organ as a sort of training exercise. Nothing fancy, but a choral prelude with long notes in the left hand part is doable. So this is a good time to start working on the choral preludes by Gottfried August homilius, especially those with the choral melody in the left hand.
I first tried “Wer nur den lieben Gott läßt walten”. Homilius wrote a fine piece, a bit more up tempo than most chorale preludes based on this melody.
The recording was done with the Sweelinq software and the sampleset of the Ahrend organ in the Oude Kerk, Amsterdam (https://sweelinq.com/product/amsterdam-nl-oude-kerk-ahrend-organ).
