Grunow, Durch Adams Fall ist ganz verderbt
Manuscript Am. 386, owned by the Staatsbibliothek Berlin contains some 20 chorale preludes by Johann Philipp Kirnberger. And one by a certain “Mademoiselle Grunow”. It’s probably not a coincidence a collection of works by Kirnberger contains one work by this Mademoiselle Grunow. But it remains a mystery who she was or what her relationship with Kirnberger was. Other than a reference to a second work by her hand I can not find anything about her.
But the piece itself is simple, yet charming.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Holzey organ of St. Peter and Paul in Weissenau by Prospectum.

Possible the piece is composed by Anna Amalia, Princess of Prussia (1723-1787) a student of Kirnberger.
5 Chorale are known of her.
It is a possibility. But why use a pseudonym in this case, when she did sign other works with her own name?

Have you found this manuscript, which has music by Kirnberger and Grunow, too.
No, that’s new to me. Probably because I’m only looking for organ music. Another piece by Grunow is interesting. Thanks for the pointer!
