Johann Balthasar Kehl, Was mein Gott will, das gescheh allzeit
Though Kehl’s music is mostly manualiter, with occasionally a rather lonely pedal note written in, sometimes he writes a full swing pedaliter piece. The choral prelude to “Was mein Gott will, das gescheh allzeit’ is one of these rare pieces.
Even if it features a full swing pedal part, the composition shows every sign of Kehl’s terribly effective way of composing: minimum means, maximum effect. The real problem I had with this piece was choosing a suitable registration. The left hand part goes rather low, so it becomes easily undistinghishably from the pedal part.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Bader organ in the Walburgiskerk, Zutphen (https://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/zutphen-virtual-organ-model.html).
