Johann Christoph Conrad, Fuga c moll
The last of the 6 composition by Johann Christoph Conrad is a three part fugue in c minor. In this fugue Conrad shows his prowess in counterpoint. The main theme of the fugue and int’s inversion are discernable in almost every bar, often in stretto as well. The first motive of the theme accours even in augmenttion in inverse. And just so that nobody misses it, Conrad writes it in octaves for the left hand. It is a manualiter fugue, but the final bars are quite tricky for the hands alone. In my performance I somehow did manage it, but you might as well use the pedals in these bars. We are organists, after all…
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Janke organ in the Stadtkirche of Bückeburg (https://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/germany/buckeburg-janke-organ.html).
