Johann Christoph Oley, Wunderbarer König
Oley’s prelude to the choral “Wunderbarer König” is written for organ and oboe. In real life it would be difficult to play this composition as one person, but thanks to software it is indeed possible. I played both the oboe part as the organ part and combined the sound of both recordings in to one recording. The make it more realistic I use a different manual for each of the parts, so with the aid of a second player it could be played like this on the real organ.
Oley wrote a lively piece with a steady pulse which is quite enjoyable to play and to listen to.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sample set of the Holzey organ of St. Peter and Paul in Weissenau by Prospectum (https://www.prospectum.com/index.php?language=english&id1=2&id2=9).
