Johann Georg Bernhard Beutler, Es ist genug
Beutler’s prelude tot the choral “Es ist genug” leans a bit more to the galant style than the prelude I published 6 days ago. The overall structure is the same, with the cantus firmus in the right hand. Before, between and after the phrases of the chorale melody, the right hand joins the left one in the accompaniment. Again, Beutler does not indicate a repeat of the first two chorale phrases. And again, it’s easy enough to realize a repetition while playing: at the end of bar 19, skip back to bar 9. In my performance I do just that.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Schnittger organ in the St. Martini-kerk, Groningen (https://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/groningen-st-martini.html).
