Johann Georg Bernhard Beutler, Fuga in G Dur
Körner also publishe a few of Beutler’s not choral bound compositions. This fugue in G major is one of them. I think it is safe to say that counterpoint was not Beutler’s forte. It is not a bad fugue, but it by no means a great one. It is a four part fugue, but most of the time, one of the parts is silent. Four part writing is difficult. Neertheless, there are some nice moments and it is always good to have something available that is not too difficult to play and sounds great at the same time.
The recording was done with the Sweelinq software and the sampleset of the Müller organ in the Grote Kerk, Leeuwarden (https://sweelinq.com/product/leeuwarden-nl-grote-kerk-muller-organ/).
