Johann Schneider, Vater unser im Himmelreich
Of the few surviving choral bound works of Johann Schneider, two are based on the choral “Vater unser im Himmelreicht”. They are both finely crafted works that show we have much to regret that so few of his works have survived.
The first has the canto fermo in the soprano voice. The work shows a lightheartedness not often associated with this choral melody.
Recorded with with with the sampleset, made by Organ Art Media, of the Arp Schnitger organ in Steinkirchen.

Many thanks for the edition of the sheet music. The notation is very legible.
Thanks for the informative texts.
But what I don’t understand: Why do you play the pieces so – unevenly (I don´t know weather this is the correct word)? Sometimes it is very difficult to hear the beat. I think it’s not good for the rhythm, the flow of the music; each note is very arbitrary in length.
At least that’s how your way of playing the organ affects me.
But that’s not a criticism. I just learned it differently.
Best regards
Norbert, from Germany
I guess because that’s the way I like it? Perhaps a bit too much agogic accents and articulation.
Anyway, I’m glad you like Schneider’s music. If you ever post a performance opf it, let me know!
