Tauscher, Nun komm der Heiden Heiland
The source for this piece gives Tauscher the intitials “H.G.” instead of “H.W.” as in other sources. That could mean of course it is in fact another composer, there is no way to be sure either way. For now I consider it the same composer as he composer of the other three pieces by Tauscher available on this site. This piece is a powerful five voice choral prelude to the Christmas choral “Nun komm der Heiden Heiland”. The choral melody is played with the pedals. The hands play a four voice accompaniment that towards the end of the piece is increasingly like Bach’s b flat minor prelude from Das Wohltemperiertes Klavier, Band I. It’s a solid statement of the faith in the birth of Christ.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Holzey organ of St. Peter and Paul in Weissenau by Prospectum.
