The first volume contains 33 easy pieces, that can be played without the use of pedals. The second half of this volume is a section called “Pièces Funèbres”, pieces intended to be used during funeral services. The piece is intended to be played during the communion. Grosjean uese the entire compass of the keyboard in this composition, from the C of the great octave, al the way up to the f of the three striped octave. Though it is notated as a manualiter piece, I took the liberty to add a pedal note here and there in my performance, to give it a bit more gravety. The recording was done on the sampleset, made by Augustine, of the Aeolian-Skinner Organ (Op 1132) of the Redeemer Church from New Haven.
