The first volume contains 33 easy pieces, that can be played without the use of pedals. The second half of this volume is a section called “Pièces Funèbres”, pieces intended to be used during funeral services. This offertoire is one of the more complex pieces in this volume to play. Long legato lines in four part harmony are a nice challenge for 10 fingers. It’s structure on the other hand is simple. The first half is simply repeated in the second half, transport a quarter up and a short 8 bar coda finishes the piece. The recording was done on the sampleset, made by Augustine, of the Aeolian-Skinner Organ (Op 1132) of the Redeemer Church from New Haven.
