Ms. 30377, owned by the Staatsbibliothek Berlin, contains four Prelude & Fugues by Johann Schneider. In the manuscript they are called just ‘Praeludium’, but since the fugue-part of the pieces is very prominent, I decided to include it in the title. This Pr\u00e4ludium in G major is the last one. It’s half a year ago since I published the third one, but I had to develop my technique a bit to be able to play this one. The fugue is by far the most important part of the work. It’s not very long, it’s not overdeveloped, but it shows Schneider’s mastery of counterpoint. Almost effortlessly and with a certain nonchalance Schneider uses techniques as stretto and inversion without ever interrupting the musical flow. It’s a fitting end to the publication of Schneider’s works. All that is left to do is combine them all into one comprehensive edition. The recording was done on the sample set of the M\u00fcller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
