Andreas Kneller ((1649 – 1724) was born in L\u00fcbeck and became Melchior Schildt’s successor at Hannover in 1667. In 1685, sponsored by his father in law, Reincken, he became organist at St. Petri in Hamburg. He stayed there until his death. His preserved works consist of three preludes and fugues (in the Mylau manuscript), eight variations on “Nun komm der heiden Heiland, and possibly two more preludes in Berlin Staatsbibliotheek, Mus. Ms. 30349. Variations IV and V of the set variations on “Nun komm der heiden Heiland” are also found in manuscript Mus. Ms. 22541 of the Berlin Staatbibliothek.
\nI present them as seperate pieces. The manuscript of Walther does as well, and I have no information about the adjoining phrases. The music is strong enough, I think, to stand on itself.<\/p>\n

The recording was done on the sample set of the Silbermann organ of the Stadtkirche Z\u00f6blitz by Prospectum<\/a>.<\/p>\n
