But the version in this manuscript differs in lots of places from the Breitkopf edition, available on imslp. The main difference is that this version is more truly &#8216;dorian&#8217;: the b is only rarely lowered to b flat, and the c is only rarely raised to c sharp. In my performance I play more raised c&#8217;s than there are in the manuscript. In the score I indicate these with an accidental in brackets. The procedure used is again a introductory four part fugue on the first line of the choral melody.
