Johann Georg Meister (1793 – 1870) was a German organist and composer. He was organist in the Stadtkirche in Hildburghausen. His opus 11 is available as a digital copy in the Saxon State and University Library Dresden. It’s difficult to read so I decided to republish it in a modern edition. Number 1 is a fugue for full organ (“f\u00fcr’s volle Werk”). It is a bit academic in that it neatly follows ‘the rules’ (exposition, episode, presentation in minor keys, episode, enlargement in subdominant, episode, stretto) but it has some nice moments.<\/p>\n

The recording was done on the sample set of the Volkmann organ in the St. Augustine’s church in Lipiny by Piotr Grabowski<\/a> for Hauptwerk.<\/p>\n
