Another piece that makes me regret there is so litlle of Schneider’s music left. This Trio in a minor follows the pattern often used by Krebs as well: a slow introduction, followed by a more lively second part. Regrettably, the Trio is left unfinished in the manuscript source I use. There are two pages without a conclusion, followed by another piece. Now it is very easy to end the piece where the source end, by just adding one bar. It fits very well in the musical structure. And perhaps that is why the copyist didn’t write it out: he thought it obvious how one should conclude the piece, and thus save himself place for another work. But perhaps there ought follow two more pages. I can’t tell. But I’m happy with the part that does exist. It is a very rewarding piece to play.
The recording was done with the sampleset, made by Organ Art Media, of the Arp Schnitger organ in Steinkirchen.
