Friedrich Wilhelm Marpurg, Fuga D Dur, à 2 voci
Marpurg’s fugue in D major, written for two voices, is an up tempo, spiritied composition. “Fugue” is probably not the most accurate description of this piece. The fugue theme appear a few times at the beginning of the composition. The rest of it is build on various motifs derived from the fugue theme. Actually a clever way of writing. It makes you constantly think that the fugue theme is being played, well in fact it is not.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Janke organ in the Stadtkirche of Bückeburg (https://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/germany/buckeburg-janke-organ.html).
