Johann Michael Bach, Herr Christ, der einig Gottes Sohn
The third chorale prelude of the Neumeister-Choräle-not-by-Johann-Sebastian is again a prelude by Johann Michael Bach. It is a short prelude on the melody of “Herr Christ, der einig Gottes Sohn”. The choral melody is divided into sections with 4 part writing and sections with two-part writing. The four part sections are probably meant to be played with pedals, but the manuscript does not indicate this. The music is notated on two staves and it is sometimes a bit of a guess where the pedals should re-enter.
The manuscript again seems to contain transcription errors. Voices disappearing and some very unlikely harmonies lead me to the impression that this manuscript is a very unreliable source. I took the liberty to change the notes that are in my opinion erraneous (because they are missing melody notes, or just because they sound odd). The original notes are indicated in footnotes, so anyone can judge for himself.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Bader-organ in the Walburgiskerk in Zutphen by Sonus Paradisi for Hauptwerk.
