Wilhelm Karges, Sebastian Anton Scherer, Capricio in G
Karges’ Capricio in G is based on Scherer’s Intonatios Tertia and Secunda Octavi Toni.
The composition is almost identical to Scherer’s original. Karges only glues them together to create a two movement composition in the style of a prelude and fugue. Even the change to triple meter in the first half of the composition comes from Scherer’s original. Karges changes some of the rythms a bit and he writes his own conclusion to the two halves of the composition. Other than that, the music is of Scherer’s invention.
Nevertheless, as with all Karges compositions and adaptations, it is ideally suited to be used in service.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Hinsz organ in the Reformed church in the Midwolda (http://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/midwolda-surround-sample-set.html).
