Georg Friedrich Kauffmann, Nun lob mein Seel’ den Herren
The chorale prelude on “Nun lob mein Seel’ den Herren” is a fugue on the opening phrase of the choral melody. No frivolous registration this time, just 8′, 4′, 2′, or full organ. For this performance I choose the ‘full organ’. It is a manualiter piece and to my ears it sounds very powerful and solid. To emphasize this powerful aspeect of the fugue even more I play the bass voice with the pedals. Curious about this fugue is that it has a repeat, but that no end is indicated. One could play it endlessly non-stop. Of course it has to end somewhere, and I indicated in the score the (to me) most likely spot where it should end.
The recording was done on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.
